ATLANTA, Ga. — An Atlanta woman was arrested for her role in a Georgia prison gang scam that stole over $79,000 from a Deltona resident, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

D’Zyre Youngblood, 28, was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on March 3 and later bonded out after posting $20,000.

Investigators said Youngblood and the gang impersonated Capt. Eric Dietrich, a real sheriff’s officer, to coerce the Deltona victim into paying false arrest bail fees through Bitcoin ATMs.

According to the arrest report, the scam began on Feb. 2, when the victim received a call claiming she had two active arrest warrants and owed $9,000 in bail plus $820 in processing fees. The victim withdrew the money and sent it to a Bitcoin ATM at Circle K in DeLand.

The scam continued over several days, with the victim making additional Bitcoin transactions totaling $79,180 at another Circle K location in Deltona after scammers claimed the first payments “did not go through.”

Financial Crimes Unit investigators traced the Bitcoin transactions to multiple accounts, including one linked to Youngblood. During questioning, she admitted her boyfriend, an inmate in the Georgia Department of Corrections, had associates—known as the “Homeboys”—who used her Coinbase account to move money.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Financial Crimes Unit continues to investigate large-scale electronic fraud and money laundering operations conducted by this Georgia prison gang, whose members frequently impersonate law enforcement to defraud victims.
