Dylan Kyler Tolbert, 28, who uses a general delivery address in Lenoir, was arrested by Lenoir Police and charged with two counts of common law robbery, one count of second-degree forcible sex offense, and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Tolbert had been identified as a person of interest in a July 14 incident at the Run-In convenience store on Hickory Boulevard in Lenoir. During the early hours of July 16, Lenoir Police Patrol Officers took Tolbert into custody on an unrelated matter. Further investigation established probable cause linking him to the convenience store crime.
According to the victim, a male suspect entered the store, sexually assaulted the clerk, stole money from both the register and the victim, then took the victim’s vehicle and fled. No weapons were reported to have been used during the assault. Officers later discovered the stolen vehicle crashed and abandoned near the scene.
After his arrest, Tolbert was held at Caldwell County Detention Center under a secured bond of $350,000. His first District Court appearance was scheduled for July 17 in Lenoir. Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
