The incident began around 9:21 p.m. Monday, when Craven County deputies responded to a shots-fired call near Wildlife Road and US 17. The victim reported that during a dog sale on Antioch Road, the buyer paid using counterfeit bills.

Upon discovering the fake money, the seller pursued the suspect’s vehicle. During the pursuit, someone inside the vehicle reportedly fired a gun at the seller. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Brite was arrested at the scene and now faces the following charges:

Felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle

Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana

Speeding

Authorities confirmed that Brite is being held on a $20,000 secured bond. As a condition of his release, he is prohibited from using or possessing controlled substances without a prescription and may not own or carry any weapons or firearms.
