COLUMBIA, Mo. — Dy’dreonte Jonell Buchanan was formally charged with first-degree drug trafficking or attempt following an undercover drug operation.

On November 22, 2024, Columbia detectives staged a drug transaction involving Buchanan with the help of a confidential informant equipped with a recording device.

Detectives observed Buchanan arrive in a red SUV and listened in on the conversation between him and the informant during the transaction. Afterward, the informant handed over a baggie containing a pink powdered substance.

Lab tests confirmed the substance was fentanyl. The informant told detectives that Buchanan was the sole driver of the vehicle.

On September 19, 2025, Buchanan was arrested by the Columbia Police Department and subsequently booked into Boone County Jail.

He now faces formal charges of first-degree drug trafficking or attempt.
