The Aberdeen Police Department has announced the arrest of 20-year-old Dustin Goodroe from Fort Bragg in connection with the solicitation of a minor and first-degree kidnapping.

The investigation began on January 26 when Aberdeen police received a report regarding a missing juvenile. Officers quickly began following leads to track down her whereabouts, which led them to identify Goodroe as a person of interest in the case.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, during the investigation, it was revealed that Goodroe had engaged in explicit conversations with the juvenile through the internet and solicited her for sex.

With the assistance of the Army Criminal Investigations Division (CID), the FBI, and Moore County Sheriff’s Office, investigators executed search warrants and conducted interviews. As a result, warrants were issued for Goodroe’s arrest on charges of felony solicitation of a minor through a computer device for an unlawful sexual act. Additionally, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants for felony first-degree kidnapping.

This arrest is the result of a collaborative effort to combat online exploitation and bring offenders to justice.
