COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dustin Boston has been arrested following the fatal shooting of Tyray Ikener outside a King Soopers store in Colorado Springs. The shooting occurred on January 20, just after 4:30 p.m., when 911 was called to report the incident. Upon arrival at the King Soopers gas station at Powers and Stetson Hills, officers discovered Ikener dead inside a car.
According to arrest papers, Boston was identified as the suspect through witness statements and additional evidence. One witness described seeing a man exit a vehicle at the gas station while holding a gun. The witness claimed the suspect approached a black Mercedes and demanded, “give me my car back” several times before a gunshot was heard.
Further investigation revealed that Boston had been pulled over driving the same black Mercedes in a November 2024 traffic stop, months before the shooting. Another witness came forward, telling investigators that Ikener was in the process of purchasing the car from a third party.
Police later determined that the black Mercedes was not registered under either Ikener or Boston’s names, with a different person listed as the legal owner. After searching the vehicle at the scene of the shooting, drug paraphernalia and a gun were found, according to the arrest papers.
Investigators also discovered that Boston and Ikener were Facebook friends, and Boston’s mother confirmed their acquaintance during questioning. Both individuals had prior criminal convictions, including theft, drug, and weapons charges.
Boston is facing serious charges related to the shooting, and the investigation into the shooting continues.
