In a major blow to the narcotics trade in Northeast India, Manipur Police arrested four individuals involved in cross-border drug smuggling operations. Brown sugar valued at Rs5 crore was seized during intelligence-driven raids across Churachandpur and Thoubal districts within 24 hours.
The anti-drug smuggling team apprehended Ciinkhanlun (29) and Vungtansang Munluo (36) in Churachandpur District. Both were found in possession of 331 soap cases filled with approximately 5 kg of brown sugar, two mobile phones, and a pickup vehicle used for transport.
In a separate operation in Thoubal District, police arrested Md. Wakash (26) and Md. Yarish (21). Seizures from the duo included 3 soap cases containing around 30 grams of brown sugar, a two-wheeler, and three mobile phones.
The seized contraband and arrested individuals are currently in police custody as investigations and legal proceedings continue. Authorities say these arrests significantly disrupt the regional drug distribution network and reflect continued efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in Manipur.
