In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Sikkim Police have arrested Suvijan Subba, a key figure in a narcotics network operating from Siliguri, West Bengal. The announcement was made by Senior Superintendent of Police Karma Gyamtso Bhutia of Namchi district during a press briefing.
Subba, 33, was arrested in the early hours from his residence in Gosaipur, Bagdogra, following coordinated intelligence efforts. He is believed to have managed a drug supply chain responsible for pushing 80% of the narcotics into Sikkim. The arrest marks a major blow to the drug trade in the region, where authorities have been cracking down on organized trafficking rings.
According to SSP Bhutia, Subba is a repeat offender with several prior drug-related cases to his name. His arrest is part of a broader crackdown targeting his network—20 suspected associates have been identified, and further arrests are expected.
In addition to detaining Subba, law enforcement officials have frozen all financial assets linked to him. This includes bank accounts and other assets believed to be proceeds of the drug trade.
Officials have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling such networks and restoring safety in Sikkim by aggressively pursuing leads and disrupting the financial structures supporting organized crime.
