Drug Dealers Syed Alom, Shakir Ali & Mohammed Islam to Repay

Trio ordered to return illegal earnings from £360K drug operation

Three men behind a £360,000 county lines drug operation have been ordered to repay their illicit profits or face extended prison time.

Syed Alom, Shakir Ali, and Mohammed Islam ran the “Kam line”, a highly lucrative cocaine distribution network that supplied over 14kg of drugs to 2,000 users between 2018 and 2020. The trio was sentenced in February 2023 after a West Mercia Police investigation dismantled their operation.

Court Orders Confiscation of Criminal Profits
During a confiscation hearing at Hereford Justice Centre on March 6, 2025, the court found that the men had significantly profited from their crimes.

Syed Alom, 36, of Highfield Road, Rowley Regis, was sentenced to 10 years and found to have benefited by £13,688. He must repay £225 in available assets.
Shakir Ali, 36, of Sycamore Road, Wednesbury, was also sentenced to 10 years and found to have gained £321,796.66. He has been ordered to repay £7,171.
Mohammed Islam, 31, of Blythswood Road, Birmingham, is serving 8.5 years and was found to have benefited by £28,481. He must repay £10,858.
The men must pay within three months, or they risk additional prison time. The confiscation orders will remain in place indefinitely, allowing authorities to seize future assets until the full benefit amount is recovered.

Police: ‘Crime Doesn’t Pay’
Detective Inspector Dan Fenn of the Economic Crime and Cyber Unit emphasized that West Mercia Police would continue to target serious organized crime.

“This case proves that crime doesn’t pay,” Fenn stated. “Alom, Ali, and Islam ran a well-established drug network, and it is only right that they are forced to return their illegal earnings. These orders will remain with them for life.”

West Mercia Police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on criminals who profit from illegal activities, ensuring that drug dealers cannot enjoy their ill-gotten gains.
