Liam Mosley and Razwan Hussain have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms following a detailed police investigation that exposed their involvement in a drug conspiracy and the trafficking of lethal firearms.
The two men were living lavish lifestyles funded by their illegal activities, including the bulk distribution of Class A drugs such as cocaine. Mosley, 29, was found to be using the encrypted EncroChat messaging system to facilitate his illegal dealings, believing the technology ensured his security. However, detectives were able to unravel his involvement in the conspiracy through careful analysis of the data, linking him to large-scale drug transactions and attempts to broker weapons deals, including an assault rifle.
The investigation also utilized Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) records and mobile phone data, linking both Mosley and Hussain to the conspiracy. The men openly discussed deals worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, often involving multiple kilos of cocaine. Hussain, 31, was an active participant, traveling between cities such as Leeds and Bradford to collect drugs, including a 10kg package on one occasion.
Mosley, who absconded to Dubai before his trial, was sentenced to 21 years in prison in his absence at Nottingham Crown Court on 10 October. He had pleaded guilty to several charges, including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and conspiracy to supply firearms. However, he was found guilty of conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life after a trial.
Hussain was sentenced to eight years and four months after being convicted of conspiracy to supply drugs and acquiring criminal property. He was arrested on 21 June 2020 after attempting to flee the scene of a drug deal in Basford, where he was found with over £29,000 in cash and drugs.
The police investigation, which began in March 2020, revealed a highly sophisticated network of drug trafficking and firearms trade. Raids carried out in October 2020 uncovered further evidence linking the two men to the conspiracy, with mobile phone records confirming their involvement.
