Drug Dealer Kane Molyneux Jailed After Airport Arrest

EncroChat messages exposed his role in large-scale drug supply

by Amelia Crawford

A Liverpool drug dealer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being arrested at Manchester Airport while waiting to board a flight to Dubai.

Kane Molyneux, 33, used EncroChat, an encrypted messaging system, to coordinate the large-scale supply of heroin, cocaine, 2CP, and amphetamine oil. However, after law enforcement successfully hacked the platform, Molyneux was identified as the user “Sauvesage”, linking him to incriminating drug trafficking messages.

One key piece of evidence was a photo sent from his EncroChat account, showing a hand covered in 2CP (“pink”). Fingerprint analysis confirmed it was Molyneux’s hand, further cementing his role in the drug operation. Authorities also uncovered communications linking him to another EncroChat user based in the Netherlands, suggesting an international drug network.

Molyneux was arrested on December 23 while attempting to flee the UK and later pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply Class A and Class B drugs. On March 21, Liverpool Crown Court sentenced him to 10 years behind bars.

Following the verdict, Detective Sergeant Craig Doyle of Merseyside Police stated:

“Molyneux is just the latest person to be brought to justice for their involvement in the widescale peddling of drugs on the streets of Merseyside. Thanks to the diligence of our officers, we secured enough evidence to put him behind bars for ten years.”

Merseyside Police continue to crack down on organized drug crime, urging the public to report drug-related activities and weapons storage to help dismantle criminal networks.
