A 37-year-old driving school instructor, identified as M Selvam alias Chithirai Selvam, was arrested by the Anna Nagar All Women Police in Chennai for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman who had enrolled in driving classes.
Selvam had been working at the driving school for the past one-and-a-half years. The victim confided in her father after the assault, prompting him to immediately file a police complaint.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Selvam. Following a preliminary inquiry, he was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about women’s safety in vocational training institutions, and police are urging any other potential victims to come forward.
