A 22-year-old from Pittsburgh, Drew Gordon, faces severe charges after being indicted for the attempted murder of a federal agent, assault, and multiple drug-related offenses, including trafficking fentanyl and cocaine. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania made the announcement today.

The indictment details that on August 30, 2024, Gordon allegedly attempted to murder a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) special agent. The agent was targeted while conducting an unrelated investigation in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The shooting incident involved 18 rounds fired, striking the agent’s vehicle, though the agent was fortunately unharmed.

Investigators recovered 10 spent 9mm cartridges from the scene, as well as five more 9mm cartridge cases from Gordon’s vehicle. Evidence such as cell phone data and surveillance footage linked Gordon to the shooting incident.

Following the shooting, law enforcement executed a federal search warrant at Gordon’s residence. They discovered over 100 bricks of fentanyl, 85 grams of crack cocaine, approximately four ounces of powder cocaine, and $10,000 in cash. Authorities also seized multiple firearms, including two 9mm Glock pistols, one with a 50-round drum magazine.

Gordon is charged with attempted murder of a federal officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and trafficking illegal substances, including fentanyl and cocaine. This case highlights the increasing severity of drug-related crimes and law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking operations.
