The Detection of Crime Branch Ahmedabad has arrested Dr Santoshkumar Gadhvi, former chief executive officer of Ward Wizard Medicare Hospital, for allegedly cheating the institution of Rs 28.47 crore through forged documents and manipulated financial records.
Gadhvi, a resident of Anand, was detained after investigators received a tip-off regarding his whereabouts. The hospital management had lodged a complaint at the DCB police station last month.
Appointed as CEO in 2022, Gadhvi was entrusted with responsibilities including procurement of medical equipment and management of hospital assets. During an internal review last year, hospital authorities discovered serious financial irregularities, prompting a detailed inquiry.
Investigators allege that Gadhvi forged documents, submitted false financial statements, and opened bank accounts in fictitious names to siphon funds. He is also accused of ordering outdated medical equipment while misappropriating the remaining funds, resulting in a scam totaling Rs 28.47 crore.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
