Doyan Lee Pierce Charged in Kure Beach Shooting

Victim hospitalized with life-threatening injuries

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) – A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after an early morning shooting in Kure Beach on Saturday.

Kure Beach Police responded to the 100 block of Hanby Avenue just before 5 a.m., where they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services transported the individual to the hospital for treatment.

At the scene, officers arrested 20-year-old Doyan Lee Pierce of Jacksonville. According to the Kure Beach Police Department, Pierce has been charged with:

One count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury

Two counts of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun

Pierce is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Jail.

Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances of the shooting or the victim’s current condition. The investigation is ongoing.
