CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR – A man accused of robbing a Denny’s restaurant at gunpoint has been arrested by authorities in Clackamas County.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:38 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Denny’s located at 12101 SE 82nd Ave. near Happy Valley. According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect used a handgun to rob an employee, taking a black bag with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a blue sedan.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as 33-year-old Douglas Wayne Kelsey of Aloha.
On July 31, detectives secured an arrest warrant and located Kelsey at a residence on SE Lamphier Street, near Milwaukie. The Clackamas County Interagency SWAT Team arrested him shortly after 2:00 p.m. He sustained minor injuries during the arrest and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Kelsey was booked into the Clackamas County Jail just after 7:00 p.m. and is being held without bail. He faces multiple charges, including:
Robbery in the First Degree
Robbery in the Second Degree
Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Theft in the First Degree
Menacing
