DAPHNE, Ala. — A man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly impersonating a federal agent at a bar in Daphne, Alabama, authorities said.
According to court records, Donnie England Jr. walked into Top of the Bay on Friday, June 27, carrying a badge and a firearm, claiming he was conducting a sting operation on behalf of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Bar staff immediately grew suspicious. “We knew something was off immediately,” a statement from the bar said. “He claimed to be on a sting operation, showed his badge, and our security saw his gun. We asked him to remove the firearm since he had been drinking — he refused. We then asked him to leave, and he refused that as well.”
Concerned for customer safety, the staff contacted Daphne Police Department, who responded promptly and arrested England. He was charged with impersonating a peace officer and booked into jail.
England was later released on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
Top of the Bay praised the police response, stating, “Daphne PD did an amazing job getting the situation figured out and diffused.”
