Donald Holt Arrested for Murder of Cousin in Birmingham

Suspect charged with murder and attempted murder after family shooting

The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has arrested Donald Holt, 41, for the murder of his cousin, Curtis Holt Jr., and the shooting of another family member.

Incident Details
The shooting occurred on Friday, March 21, 2025, in the 3500 Block of Hemlock Avenue Southwest. Police say the violence stemmed from a domestic-related dispute, during which Holt shot both victims before fleeing the scene.

Swift Arrest
BPD Tactical Unit officers located and arrested Holt in West Birmingham within two hours of the shooting.

Charges and Custody
Detectives presented the case to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office, which issued warrants for:
✔ Murder (Curtis Holt Jr.)
✔ Attempted Murder (Surviving male victim)

Donald Holt is being held at Jefferson County Jail without bond.
