A man has been arrested in Berkeley County after leading deputies on a chase while driving a stolen vehicle. Dominique Anthony Roberts, 23, from North Charleston, faces several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and second-offense failure to stop for blue lights.
The incident took place on Saturday night when deputies were patrolling the Ridgeville area, near Camp Hall. During the patrol, one deputy spotted a car that had been reported stolen by the North Charleston Police Department and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, Roberts did not stop, leading deputies to pursue him.
The pursuit ended when deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating the front passenger tire of Roberts’ vehicle. He lost control, and the car eventually came to a halt in a grassy area near the I-26 and College Park Road on-ramp.
Upon arresting Roberts, deputies discovered a .38 special revolver by Taurus Brasil in plain sight on the driver’s side floorboard.
Roberts was taken to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a total bond of $29,125.
