DISCOVERY BAY, Calif. — Dominic Vannucci, 25, a teacher’s aide at Excelsior Middle School in Byron, was arrested Wednesday morning by the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children task force for allegedly possessing child pornography and “annoying or molesting a child.”
Law enforcement took Vannucci into custody at his home on the 2200 block of Breaker Court, where they also seized electronic devices containing suspected child pornography.
Following the arrest, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed 20 counts against Vannucci, including possession of child pornography and molestation-related charges. Authorities have not released full details about the molestation allegations but noted that some charges involve claims Vannucci took unauthorized photos of students during classes.
School officials at Excelsior Middle School were promptly notified and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
Vannucci is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on a $200,000 bail, according to Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office jail records.
