Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district arrested 25-year-old Naushin Mainuddin Sheikh, a domestic help, after seizing 71.03 grams of the synthetic drug MD (mephedrone) valued at Rs14 lakh. The arrest took place near a defunct hotel in Ulhasnagar on Tuesday evening, following suspicious behavior observed by officers from Hill Line police station.
Upon being stopped and searched, Naushin was found carrying the banned drug, which is prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During interrogation, she revealed that she had procured the mephedrone for sale from an individual residing in Nala Sopara, Palghar district. Police are currently working to apprehend the suspect and uncover the drug’s supply network.
A case has been registered against Naushin under the NDPS Act, with authorities actively investigating the origin and intended recipients of the contraband.
