Doimukh police achieved a major breakthrough in one of the region’s largest burglary cases by recovering stolen property valued at Rs 2.57 crore. The theft occurred at the residence of Tigdo village resident Techi Tania between June 17 and 25, while the family was away. Stolen items included gold jewellery, traditional ornaments, and cash.
Following a written complaint, police registered a case under Sections 331(1) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Led by Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar and Doimukh SDPO, a team headed by ASI TD Goiba used local intelligence to arrest two suspects, Nabam Ako (22) and Teri Apang (19), both from Tigdo village.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading officers to recover the stolen items from locations in Rono and Tigdo villages on June 28. The entire seizure process was documented using the eSakhya mobile app to ensure transparency.
Both suspects have been formally arrested and are set to be produced in court on Sunday.
