Dmitri German Arrested for Identity Theft in Auburn Check Fraud Case

19-year-old Montgomery man charged with stealing and altering checks

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Dmitri Miguel German, 19, of Montgomery, was arrested on April 29, 2024, on a felony warrant for identity theft after a months-long investigation into a fraudulent check case.

The Auburn Police Department received a report on November 15, 2023, about a stolen and altered check made out to a local business. The check, which was mailed to the intended recipient, was intercepted, changed, and deposited into an account linked to an unknown suspect.

After further investigation, German was identified as a suspect, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for identity theft. On April 29, German was located and arrested by the Montgomery Police Department in connection with the charges.
