Jaipur, Rajasthan – A 43-year-old woman, identified as Dipti Jain, has been arrested by Shyam Nagar police for allegedly defrauding a man by selling him fake gold chains worth over Rs23 lakh.
According to SHO Dalbeer Singh Faujdar, Dipti is a resident of Jai Jawan Colony on Tonk Road and previously ran a boutique named Women’s Hub. The complaint was filed by Suneel Jain, who claimed Dipti approached him in May 2025, stating she had suffered major business losses and was under heavy debt.
Gaining his sympathy, Dipti convinced Suneel to purchase 22 gold chains, supposedly weighing 270 grams, for over Rs23 lakh. However, the victim later discovered the jewelry was completely fake and held no real value.
What makes the case more unusual is that Dipti had been reported missing just days before her arrest. A Missing Person’s Report (MPR) was filed, and Bajaj Nagar police successfully located her on Wednesday.
Upon arrest, investigators uncovered that Dipti is a repeat offender. “She already has cases filed against her at Malviya Nagar, Manak Chowk, Adarsh Nagar, and Shyam Nagar police stations,” SHO Faujdar confirmed.
Since her arrest, three more complainants have come forward with similar accusations. Police suspect that more victims may exist who haven’t yet reported their losses.
“Preliminary findings indicate that Dipti Jain may have duped several people in a similar manner,” Faujdar said. Interrogation is ongoing to determine the full extent of her fraudulent activities.
