In a significant operation, the Bhangagarh police have arrested Dipjyoti Bora, a fraudster who scammed multiple women, particularly divorced and financially independent ones, by promising love and marriage. Operating under false identities, Bora would gain the trust of his victims and then extort large sums of money from them.

Bora primarily targeted his victims through dating apps, where he falsely claimed to be an employee of Oil India, according to police reports. Despite being married and divorced three times, he used his charm to manipulate and deceive his victims into parting with large amounts of money.

One of his victims, a divorced woman working in a private bank, lost Rs. 6 lakh to Bora. Investigations reveal that he has scammed at least ten women, collectively stealing between Rs. 45 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh.

Dipjyoti Bora rented multiple properties across different locations in Guwahati, though he had no permanent address. To further deceive his victims and appear affluent, he often borrowed luxury cars from friends. His arrest by the Bhangagarh police has put an end to his fraudulent activities.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities seized an ALCAZAR car, registered as AS01-FK-3237, from Bora. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to his crimes. Law enforcement has initiated further inquiries to identify more victims of his scams.
