A team from Patrakar Colony Police Station, Jaipur South, arrested Dinesh Jat, son of Rajendra Jat, the alleged driver of a speeding Audi car involved in a hit-and-run accident on January 9, 2026. The accused was apprehended after a search operation on Jaipur’s Ring Road, where a ₹25,000 reward had been announced for information leading to his arrest.

The accident occurred late Friday night near Kharabas Circle in Jaipur’s Journalist Colony, resulting in the death of one person and leaving at least 12 others injured.

All the injured were rushed to SMS Hospital and Jaipuria Hospital for medical treatment. Police confirmed that the Audi car involved in the incident fled the scene after ploughing into people gathered near a roadside eatery.

Station House Officer Madan Lal said that one fatality has been confirmed so far and 12 people sustained injuries. He added that two individuals were detained during the investigation. Although the vehicle was registered outside Rajasthan, both the owner and occupants of the car are from the state.

BL Yadav, Nodal Incharge at SMS Hospital, stated that five injured persons were admitted to the hospital. One of the victims, Deewan, told ANI that the group was eating at a dhaba when the speeding car suddenly rammed into them.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident to determine further liability.
