Police on Monday arrested two more suspects, Dinesh and Jinesh, in connection with the Rs7.11 crore cash van robbery, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to eight.
The accused were allegedly involved in the conspiracy to rob a CMS Info Systems cash van near Jayanagar last week. CMS Info Systems handles cash transportation for banks and ATMs.
Authorities said Dinesh was arrested in Bengaluru, while Jinesh was apprehended in Chennai, both on Sunday. So far, police have recovered Rs6.55 crore of the stolen cash, with around Rs56 lakh still missing, Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh B. Jagalasar stated.
Earlier, City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh confirmed the arrest of six other suspects, including former employees of CMS Info Systems and Annappa Naik, a suspended police constable attached to Govindapura Police Station.
Investigations revealed that the accused had spent roughly Rs1 lakh from the loot, mainly for logistical expenses and a mobile phone costing Rs40,000. The probe is ongoing, and authorities continue to track the remaining stolen cash.
