In a significant crackdown on cyber and financial crime, Dhubri Police arrested three men linked to an online gaming scam that defrauded numerous people through a fraudulent Android app. The arrests were made Saturday evening during a coordinated police operation.
The accused have been identified as Shahinur Ali of Kaiyahagi Bazar, Ahinur Rahman of Mahrirchar, and Zobbar Ali of Manirchar, all from South Salmara. According to authorities, the trio ran a fraudulent application called ‘RSN Marketing’, luring users with promises of high returns via gaming and investment schemes.
During the raid, police seized seven ATM cards, four bank passbooks, two cheque books, multiple mobile phones, and documents linked to their operations. A handwritten register tracking daily earnings and transactions was also recovered, highlighting the systematic nature of their racket.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accused used the RSN Marketing app to divert funds under the guise of online gaming and investments. Officials suspect links to a wider digital fraud network across multiple districts.
A senior police officer warned that online gaming scams are increasingly prevalent in Dhubri and adjoining areas, advising the public to avoid unverified apps and online investment schemes.
Police continue to investigate, tracing the digital footprint of the operation and searching for additional accomplices or financial connections.
