Jakkanpur police arrested Dharmendra Kumar Chandravanshi, a political activist, late Wednesday night in connection with a job-related fraud in Darbhanga.

According to police, Dharmendra allegedly defrauded Nitesh Kumar, a resident of Sakatpur, by promising him a government job. Nitesh claims he paid around Rs 10 lakh between 2019 and 2020, but the promised employment never materialized. Despite repeated assurances, Dharmendra delayed refunds and ultimately refused to return the money.

Nitesh was reportedly introduced to Dharmendra through his brother-in-law, who works at the activist’s clinic. Police confirmed that Dharmendra had exploited Nitesh’s unemployment to secure the payments.

City SP (East) Parichay Kumar confirmed the arrest and noted that Dharmendra was wanted in multiple fraud cases. He was previously involved in a 2023 fake land document case but had secured bail. Further investigation into this latest fraud is ongoing.
