LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) – Police in Long Beach have arrested two teenagers in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries and drug-related charges.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, 18-year-old Devin C. Roper of Long Beach and 17-year-old Rendell M. Haynes of Gulfport were taken into custody Thursday after officers responded to reports of two individuals breaking into vehicles in the 1000 block of Arbor Station Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found and arrested both suspects, while two other juveniles fled the scene. Authorities later located and arrested the fleeing juveniles as well.
A search of the suspects’ vehicle linked them to other burglaries reported on April 21 along Beatline Road. Investigators also recovered two stolen firearms, burglary tools, and a small amount of marijuana.
Both Roper and Haynes have been charged with:
7 counts of vehicle burglary
1 count of attempted vehicle burglary
1 count of possession of burglary tools
Possession of marijuana
They are currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, each on a $450,000 bond. The two juveniles were transported to the Harrison County Juvenile Detention Center.
LBPD was supported by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison County Narcotics Task Force, and Gulfport Police Narcotics Division in the arrests.
