In a chilling case of familial homicide, Shravan Barve, 24, was allegedly murdered by his own father, Devidas Barve (64), and elder brother, Uday Barve (34), in what police say was the culmination of a violent family feud. The incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet town of Nagargao in Sattari.

The Goa police arrested three individuals in connection with the murder on Saturday, including a daily wage worker, Vasudev Nakul Ozrekar (43), who was also allegedly involved. Ozrekar has been remanded to 10-day police custody, while Devidas and Uday were arrested following eyewitness accounts and confessions during police questioning.

North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal confirmed the arrests, stating, “We have arrested Vasudev, and Devidas and Uday were picked up based on the ongoing investigation.”

The crime came to light after Shravan’s body was found on Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m., just outside the family’s home. Initially, the family claimed they were unaware of any enmity, but Uday later admitted that the family suspected foul play. The autopsy report confirmed death by asphyxia due to manual neck compression, confirming murder.

On Friday, police detained 18 people from Valpoi for questioning. Though many were later released, SP Kaushal noted that some individuals may be recalled for further inquiry if needed.

The murder case is being handled by Valpoi PI Videsh Shirdokar, under the supervision of DySP Jivba Dalvi and SP Akshat Kaushal. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the tragic killing.
