Devan Marshall Fyke, 32, of Charlestown, West Virginia, has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of his girlfriend in Frederick County, Maryland, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).
The incident began when the victim’s sister called 911, reporting that Fyke had taken the victim against her will and was driving erratically. Deputies said the woman tried to exit the vehicle several times but was physically restrained by Fyke, who also threw her phone out of the car.
Fyke eventually let the woman out near Buckeystown Pike and English Muffin Way, where she borrowed a phone and called for help. Deputies later found her and transported her to a local hospital.
Fyke was located at a Sheetz convenience store in Brunswick and arrested on an unrelated warrant. He now faces multiple charges including second-degree assault, false imprisonment, theft, and property destruction.
Fyke was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center but has since been released, FCSO confirmed.
