Cecil County Woman Faces First-Degree Murder

by Sophia Bennett

CECIL COUNTY, Md. — Destiny Faith Chiveral, 24, of Charlestown, Maryland, has been charged with the murder of her five-week-old daughter, according to the Maryland State Police.

Authorities allege that Chiveral’s daughter died from trauma, leading to charges including first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services responded to a 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. on December 4 in the unit block of Leedle Circle, Rising Sun.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore confirmed evidence of trauma. Following the autopsy, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, in coordination with the Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office, executed search warrants for Chiveral’s phone, person, and two residences. Evidence recovered during the investigation established probable cause for the charges.

Chiveral was arrested without incident, processed at the North East Barrack, and appeared before a district court commissioner. She remains held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center, and the investigation is ongoing.
