Derrick V. Myers Arrested for Threatening Stabbing at Howard Park

Man charged with intimidation after knife threats in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, IN — South Bend Police arrested Derrick V. Myers, 43, Tuesday night after he allegedly threatened park visitors with a knife at Howard Park.

Officers responded around 8:15 PM to reports of a man running through the park threatening to stab people. Police located Myers carrying a steak knife and safely disarmed and detained him.

Witnesses told police Myers had followed several parkgoers, saying,

“I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna kill you.”

Myers was taken into custody and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail. He faces charges of intimidation related to the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate but say no one was physically harmed during the event.
