SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Derek Gehrke, 41, was arrested during a traffic stop on June 14 by Michigan State Police troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post.
Troopers stopped Gehrke’s vehicle near Johnston Street and Easterday Avenue for defective equipment. The investigation revealed Gehrke was in possession of methamphetamine and was operating a vehicle without insurance. Authorities also found an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Gehrke was taken into custody and lodged in Chippewa County Jail. He was arraigned on June 16 in the 91st District Court and faces felony and misdemeanor charges, including possession of methamphetamine and operating without insurance.
His bond was set at $5,000 with conditions, and he is scheduled to appear again in court on June 30. Gehrke is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
