Denzel Laron Washington Sentenced to 40 Years for Murder of Toni Frasier
North Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) — Denzel Laron Washington, charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Toni Frasier, in 2021, pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
On October 23, Washington, 32, admitted to both murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The Solicitor’s office announced that while the defense requested the minimum sentence of 30 years, the State called for a 45-year sentence. After hearing arguments from both sides, Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. McCoy delivered a 40-year sentence.
The incident, which took place in July 2021, led North Charleston Police Department officers to respond to a call at Roper Physicians Urgent Care, where they discovered the body of Toni Frasier, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the face. The investigation revealed that Washington, the father of Frasier’s seven children, was responsible for her death.
