Denise Guyette Sentenced to 11 Years for Role in Multistate Drug Trafficking

A Rhode Island woman, Denise Guyette, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for her involvement in a multistate drug trafficking operation. The conspiracy, which spanned across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and other states, involved the distribution of fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

Guyette, 31, conspired with Gerardo Garza and Nathan Boddie to distribute these dangerous substances. The trafficking organization employed the U.S. mail system to send narcotics from Arizona, often hiding them inside packages with children’s toys, Halloween decorations, and Disney merchandise.

From May to October 2022, investigators intercepted several shipments containing more than 900 grams of methamphetamine, thousands of counterfeit fentanyl pills, and Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a powerful hallucinogen. In February 2023, Guyette was arrested, and law enforcement seized approximately 6.5 kilograms of pure methamphetamine, over 2,700 counterfeit fentanyl pills, and other illicit materials from her home.

Guyette’s co-defendant, Nathan Boddie, was sentenced to 84 months in prison, with three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty in September 2023. Gerardo Garza, also involved in the operation, has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
