Police link suspect to multiple tavern robberies

by Sophia Bennett

PORTLAND, Ore. – A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of tavern robberies across Portland, according to local authorities.

Police identified the suspect as Demetrius E. Hillman, who was taken into custody early Saturday morning after officers served a search warrant at a home on Southwest Canyon Court. A second warrant was executed at another location on North Salem Avenue, also tied to the ongoing robbery investigation.

Between September 16 and October 6, police said five “tavern-type” businesses in north and east Portland were robbed. Investigators now believe Hillman may be connected to more than six robberies dating back to early September.

Hillman currently faces 15 charges related to robbery and theft, and police say additional charges could follow as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact the Portland Police Bureau.
