LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Three men from Houston were arrested on June 21 after police linked them to a stolen U-Haul box truck and a possible fireworks stand burglary in Galveston County.

The suspects — Delvin William, 30, Chance Stafford, 29, and Marcell Williams, 28 — were apprehended after fleeing the stolen truck during a police stop initiated by the League City Police Department (LCPD).

At approximately 1:50 a.m., LCPD received an alert via the Flock Safety system about a northbound stolen U-Haul truck on the 2500 block of South Gulf Freeway. Officer Davis spotted the vehicle near the 200 block and waited for backup before attempting a stop.

According to police, as the stop was initiated, William — the driver — accelerated toward the 19000 block ramp. The truck struck a curb and slowed, at which point all three men jumped out while the vehicle was still moving and fled on foot across the Gulf Freeway toward Braybrook Mall.

With assistance from Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office and Houston Police, all three suspects were captured shortly after.

During the search of the U-Haul, officers found multiple boxes of fireworks. Further investigation led to the discovery that a Galveston County fireworks stand had been burglarized. Sheriff’s deputies are currently investigating the potential connection.

Charges include:

Delvin William: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle ($25,000 bond); Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($50,000 bond – Galveston County)

Chance Stafford: Money Laundering (3 Harris County felony warrants – $25,000 bond); Credit/Debit Card Abuse ($10,000 bond); Two counts of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($50,000 bond)

Marcell Williams: Evading Arrest on Foot ($2,500 bond – Harris County); Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity ($50,000 bond – Galveston County)

Authorities are continuing to investigate the fireworks theft and potential links to other similar crimes in the region.
