Lawnish Kumar Arrested for Stealing Company Funds After Falsely Reporting Robbery

by Ananya Mehta

In a swift investigation, Jalandhar (Rural) police have arrested Lawnish Kumar, a delivery agent, for filing a false robbery complaint to cover up his theft of Rs 28,000 from his company. Kumar, from Rupewal village, had been working for a company near Sukhjit Hospital, Nakodar for over a month-and-a-half. He falsely claimed that three men in a Swift car had robbed him near the Shahkot SDM Court flyover.

However, the police investigation, led by Inspector Balwinder Singh Bhullar, quickly uncovered the truth. It was revealed that Kumar had fabricated the robbery story to conceal his theft, driven by financial pressure from a loan and personal expenses.

The police found that no robbery occurred, and Kumar had pocketed the company’s money. A search led to the recovery of Rs 10,000 and his motorcycle. Kumar has been arrested, and a case has been registered at the Shahkot police station. His motorcycle, bearing registration number Punjab-67-D-1945, was impounded as evidence. Further investigation is underway to recover the remaining stolen funds.

Kumar will be produced in court to obtain his remand for further inquiries.
