In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Inter-State Cell of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has dismantled a large-scale drug supply network, arresting five key operatives including the source, supplier, transporter, and receiver.
The coordinated operation led to the seizure of 313 kg of cannabis (ganja), marking a significant breakthrough in Delhi’s fight against drug trafficking.
The probe began with the interception of 288 kg of ganja from two men, Mukesh and Rajesh, who had hidden the contraband inside a concealed cavity in a truck. Interrogation of the duo led investigators to the source of the supply in Odisha.
On June 29, the Crime Branch arrested Bhari Mal Nayak alias Nayak from Gajapati district, Odisha. Acting on further leads, the transporter and middleman, Yashvir Dahiya alias Satbir, was caught in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, while the receiver, Sunil Nagar alias Gullu, was apprehended in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
During questioning, it was revealed that Dahiya had procured the ganja from Nayak under instructions from Gullu. A follow-up raid at Gullu’s flat resulted in the recovery of 25 kg more cannabis, packaged in five packets.
The ongoing investigation is aiming to uncover additional links in this multi-state drug network that connects Odisha, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
This bust adds to the Delhi Police’s recent intensified efforts against narcotics. As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada’, the department destroyed 1,629 kg of seized drugs in June, valued at over ₹3,274 crore.
In another operation last month, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) intercepted 348 kg of drugs being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Delhi-NCR.
These successive operations reflect the Crime Branch’s aggressive campaign against interstate drug syndicates, reaffirming Delhi Police’s commitment to a drug-free capital.
