Delhi Police apprehended two individuals, Suresh Kumar Gujar (20) and Rahul Kumar Gujar (22), involved in a social media investment scam that defrauded victims of Rs 12.61 lakh, officials stated on Tuesday.

The scam was uncovered after a complaint was filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. According to the complaint, the victim was lured into investing money by a contact within a social media group. The accused promised substantial returns but ceased communication after receiving the funds.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan confirmed that the arrested individuals, both residents of Delhi, were responsible for the fraudulent scheme. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full scope of the scam and identify other potential victims.

This case highlights the increasing prevalence of investment fraud schemes on social media platforms, where scammers exploit individuals’ trust for personal gain.
