Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested three men and apprehended a minor in connection with a gang-related murder in Bawana, Outer Delhi, in which 30-year-old Ravi Bhardwaj was fatally shot on March 19.
The incident took place in Harewali village, where three men on a motorcycle opened fire on Bhardwaj, killing him on the spot. Bhardwaj’s father, eight-year-old nephew, and a neighbor sustained injuries during the attack.
Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravindra Yadav stated that multiple police teams were formed to solve the case. Officers analyzed footage from around 650 CCTV cameras and tracked suspects’ movements over nearly 2,000 km, conducting raids across multiple states.
The main shooter, 21-year-old Aakash, was traced to Begusarai, Bihar, and admitted to being part of the attack, claiming affiliation with the Tillu Tajpuria gang. According to DCP Outer North Hareshwar Swami, Aakash fired multiple rounds at Bhardwaj and others after meeting his co-accused at a birthday party.
Investigations revealed involvement of associates of Deepak Paksma and Himmat Chiku from the Tillu gang. 22-year-old Chetanya from Bawana was arrested for providing detailed information about Bhardwaj’s residence and daily routine to the shooters, sharing updates on social media, and attempting to delete evidence.
Police later arrested 23-year-old Kunal and apprehended a minor from Rohini, who were also implicated in the attack. Bhardwaj was reportedly associated with jailed gangster Deepak alias Titar of the Gogi gang, and the murder is suspected to be retaliation for the killing of gangster Tillu Tajpuria in Tihar Jail.
The arrests highlight the police’s coordinated effort using intelligence, CCTV analysis, and interstate operations to crack a gang retaliation case in Delhi.
