Delhi Police’s crime branch has successfully apprehended Krishna (27), alias Gopal, a key member of the notorious Thak-Thak gang, known for targeting vehicles by knocking on windows to distract drivers and steal valuables.
Krishna was arrested from Anna Colony, ITO, after a tip-off and subsequent police trap. He was wanted in connection with two car theft cases reported on August 30 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
In one incident, a gram panchayat officer’s car was broken into, with a bag containing a laptop, official documents, cards, and keys stolen. In another case on the same day, the rear window of a vehicle was smashed, resulting in the theft of two laptops and cash.
Following investigations, Gorakhpur Police arrested two gang members, Ujendra Pandey (37) and Sanju (37), but Krishna and two others escaped.
“They evaded arrest by frequently changing locations,” said DCP (crime) Harsh Indora. “On September 10, a tip-off led us to Krishna’s presence in Anna Colony, ITO, where our team successfully captured him.”
Krishna confessed to being part of an organised gang operating from hideouts in Madangir and ITO.
The police continue to investigate the gang’s activities and are searching for the remaining members.
