In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police arrested Anil (50), a notorious drug kingpin wanted by multiple agencies including the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Special Cell, and Crime Branch. Along with four other drug peddlers, police seized heroin worth approximately Rs 6.25 crore, officials said on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami revealed that Anil has been a key figure in the narcotics supply chain for over 20 years and has convictions in two cases.
The operation began on August 29 with the arrest of Afsana (23) from Bhalswa Dairy, where police recovered 300 grams of heroin. Interrogation led to the capture of Narender (37) and his wife Jyoti (35) from Burari; 712 grams of heroin was seized from their home.
On September 1, the police arrested another supplier, Santosh (38), from Nihal Vihar, recovering 97 grams of heroin. Santosh has four pending cases, including one under the NDPS Act.
Acting on Santosh’s disclosure, police raided a property in Tilak Nagar’s Vishnu Garden on September 8, where Anil was apprehended with nearly 2 kilograms of heroin.
Anil’s criminal empire includes four flats in Delhi, commercial property in Khyala, a 300 sq yd plot in Rohtak, Haryana, and multiple vehicles—all purchased with drug money, valued at around Rs 10 crore.
According to police records, Anil has 13 registered cases, including a 1998 robbery.
A case under the NDPS Act is registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station, and investigations continue. The Outer North District Police have registered 104 NDPS cases in 2025, resulting in 133 arrests so far.
