Delhi Police arrested Anas Khan (26) and Sudheer Kumar alias Ritik (27) near Shastri Park on July 1 while attempting to deliver over 1 kilogram of heroin worth more than Rs 5 crore.
The duo was intercepted near Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital on Zero Pusta Road, with 527 grams of heroin recovered from Khan and 526 grams from Kumar. Police investigations revealed that the heroin was procured from Avnish, a resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
Anas Khan, a trader in eucalyptus products, reportedly turned to drug trafficking due to financial hardships and has a prior case related to physical assault. Sudheer Kumar, a grocery store helper with no previous criminal record, handled the logistics and delivery.
Authorities said the narcotics were intended for distribution in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Crime Branch police station.
