The Delhi Police have arrested four members of a drug cartel operating across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The arrests were made following the seizure of 2 lakh Alprazolam tablets, a psychotropic drug, valued at Rs 1 crore.

The Crime Branch seized the 30 kilograms of Alprazolam from two locations: Sonia Vihar in Delhi and a godown in Loni, Uttar Pradesh. Apoorva Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), revealed that two men were arrested on November 28, following a tip-off from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).

The police team, led by ACP Anil Sharma and Inspector Praveen Rathi, intercepted two motorcycles near Pushpanjali Estate and arrested the two men: Laxman (32) and Pankaj (18). The duo was found with 27 kilograms of Alprazolam concealed in boxes. Their arrest led to the recovery of more drugs and further arrests in the case.

On December 16, the godown owner, Ankit Shukla, was arrested in Beliya village, UP’s Gonda. Another breakthrough came on December 28 when Tanishq (23) was arrested near Karkarduma Metro Station in North East Delhi, and a motorcycle used by him and Shukla was recovered from Aligarh.

According to police officials, Shukla and Tanishq were part of a broader scheme to distribute Alprazolam tablets across Delhi and NCR. They had started the illegal business by supplying the drug in collaboration with other cartel members. The successful bust highlights the continued efforts of Delhi police to disrupt drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
