In a significant operation, the Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force dismantled a major drug trafficking cartel operating across Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Mewat, and the Delhi NCR region. The operation led to the seizure of 1,667 grams of high-quality heroin, suspected to be of Afghan origin.
In addition to the heroin, police confiscated 15 mobile phones allegedly containing incriminating data, and identified five properties worth approximately ₹10 crore for financial scrutiny. Freezing orders are being processed, and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has been contacted to help trace financial links among the accused.
The operation began after Faheem Farooq (37), a resident of Srinagar, was arrested on February 9 in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, for carrying 996 grams of heroin. A search of his rented accommodation in Bhogal led to the seizure of Rs1.65 lakh in cash. During questioning, Farooq allegedly identified Shazia Peer as his primary contact in the drug trade. He claimed Peer introduced him to a supplier known as Harry, later identified as Parminder Singh. Farooq further stated that Peer paid him Rs50,000 per delivery and facilitated the heroin supply via Murthal, Sonipat.
