According to police sources, Maheshwari and Tomar had been in a relationship for several years. During this time, Maheshwari and Solanki, who were cousins, also developed a romantic relationship and intended to marry. However, Tomar’s refusal to accept their union led the couple to plan her murder. They traveled to Goa to confront Tomar and, upon her refusal to support their relationship, killed her by smothering. They then stole her mobile phone and a white bag before fleeing the scene.
The swift arrests were made possible due to diligent police work, including the analysis of CCTV footage and coordination with local authorities in Delhi and Indore. The case has drawn significant attention due to the personal motives behind the crime and the rapid resolution by the Goa police.
