Delhi Man Arrested for Defrauding 700 Women on Dating Platforms

Tushar Singh Bisht Posed as US-Based Model to Extort Money

Tushar Singh Bisht, 23, a technical recruiter from Noida, was arrested by Delhi police on Friday for defrauding over 700 women on dating platforms by posing as a US-based model. His arrest followed a complaint from a Delhi University student, marking the culmination of an investigation into his online manipulation and blackmail activities.

Originally from Delhi, Tushar, despite holding a stable job in the tech industry, led a double life driven by greed. He created fake profiles on popular social media and dating apps like Bumble and Snapchat, posing as a freelance US-based model visiting India. His fabricated persona used photos and stories stolen from an actual Brazilian model. His targets were primarily women aged 18-30, whom he befriended and later manipulated.

Tushar used a virtual international mobile number and built trust with his victims before requesting intimate photos or videos. Initially, these exchanges were personal, but soon, Tushar began blackmailing the women, threatening to post their private content online or sell it on the dark web if they didn’t comply with his financial demands.

The case came to light when a second-year Delhi University student reported Tushar after he blackmailed her with her private videos. After being coerced into paying a small amount, the student reached out to her family, leading to a formal police complaint.

The Cyber Police Station of West Delhi, under ACP Arvind Yadav, launched an investigation, which included technical analysis and intelligence gathering. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of Tushar in Shakarpur. Authorities recovered incriminating data, 13 credit cards, and over 60 WhatsApp chat records during the raid.

The police investigation revealed that at least four other women had been similarly extorted by Tushar. Two bank accounts linked to his criminal activities have been uncovered, with further details still under investigation.
